Cthulhu And A Puppy
CTHULHU AND A PUPPY
This thread is to address the claim that some Scientologists and
exes make that the reactive mind is real or the same as the subconscious
or unconscious from psychology , or close enough to not matter.
Some can say it is no more different than a horse and a unicorn ; very similar ideas.
Well , I contend that the difference is more like that between Cthulhu and a puppy ! Very different !
Cthulhu is a fictional deity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft and first introduced in the short story "The Call of Cthulhu", published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928. Considered a Great Old One
within the pantheon of Lovecraftian cosmic entities, the creature has
since been featured in numerous popular culture references.
An ongoing theme in Lovecraft's work is the complete irrelevance of
mankind in the face of the cosmic horrors that apparently exist in the
universe, with Lovecraft constantly referring to the "Great Old Ones": a
loose pantheon of ancient, powerful deities from space who once ruled the Earth and who have since fallen into a deathlike sleep.
- He has power beyond mortal comprehension and is able to
nearly instantly regenerate his body if it is ever to be damaged the
wound will heal faster than it is made.
- He is the ruiner of countless worlds, the devourer of innumerable souls, and ender of hope.
- He
also has immortality beyond what most can comprehend, for it is stated
that he will outlast death itself. If this is true then he can never
be truly destroyed.
- He is as large if not larger than
any earthly mountain, being able to stand well above sea level in some
of the deepest parts of the sea.
- It is unknown whether or not he can fly using his massive wings, but it is probable.
In fact Cthulhu's power is so tremendous that when he is to awaken
everything in 1,000 miles of R'lyeh will either be destroyed in mind,
body, and soul which is the fate of the more fortunate ones, or go
irrevocably insane as you see the truths of the omniverse.
His mastery of magics, technology, and psionics have few equals anywhere
in existence and the simple fact that he has mastered all three of
these rather than just one is truly a feat. He also is capable of
reality, matter, energy, time, and space manipulation on a truly massive
scale. His age is stated to be in the vigintillions of years, or 120
Zeroes. Thus making him vastly older than the universe is predicted to
be or even is predicted to last, thus implying that he has seen many
many universes come and go and that ours is merely the latest one to
him.
See that is an embodiment of FEAR : primal unstoppable and unfathomable capable of damning entire UNIVERSES .
That is how the reactive mind is represented in Scientology : something to dread and fight at all costs !
Okay , now to represent the flip side I will use what I think best embodies it .
Yep , a puppy . Not because we love or trust puppies OR because of the extreme differences between them and Cthulhu .
Because a puppy can help or be good , or if mishandled and misunderstood
and abused can , like a mind turn against it's owner and become
difficult to live with.
Like a puppy the subconscious can TRY to be good but to be its best it
should have love and understanding and not be confused and driven by
rage or fear.
A puppy is similar to a human's subconscious in that both do best with
positive encouragement and have mammalian fostering and empathy (
usually to a degree )
and both are usually better with trust and not suspicion .
Both have a natural cycle of growth and aging , and don't damn one in future lives or eternity .
Both are imperfect and flawed , but usually not uncontrollably so .
Both are usually well intentioned but not as intelligent or critical as one might like ideally.
The reactive mind , and it's threat to current and future happiness , is quite different from the actual true subconscious.
The reactive mind is a complete fabrication and covering lie to compel
submission to LRH and everything he says about how to handle it is
actually damaging to a real person in too many ways to count.
The main difference between the subconscious and reactive minds is that
one actually exists and the other is pure fiction ; you know just like
puppies and Cthulhu .
