Xenu Who ?
Something that lots of people never in Scientology have a major misconception about is the Xenu story from OT III.
I was in the Scientology cult for twenty five years and on staff and in the Sea Org. I lived in Sea Org orgs in New York city and LA. I met at least two hundred Scientologists while I was in the cult who I got to know to some degree and at least twenty or thirty who I got to know very well, to the point that they confided in me and told me their impression of Scientology, sometimes in great detail.
I never heard any mention of Xenu EVER in those twenty five years. I would hear vague guesses about what the OT levels held or that beings could degrade to states where they couldn't pick up a body. Which is technically part of the Xenu story, but in a vague way without ninety five percent of the details that I discovered are in the OT levels AFTER leaving Scientology.
A lot of people, maybe even fifty or more, from a variety of cities and orgs have discussed their beliefs with me and none of them below OT III ever had ideas that were even close to the actual OT materials.
So, I have asked others and read similar accounts to my own. I think it is accurate to say ninety percent or ninety five percent of Scientologists never know the Xenu story.
I know most Scientologists don't get to OT III. Part of it is the quarter million dollars you might need and the thousands of hours in a course room and auditing room. And you have to always stay in good standing too.
I don't believe any of the Scientology doctrine now, but feel it is important for the press and public to know the truth, even if it isn't as silly or outlandish as the Xenu story. It is certainly bad enough without it.
